What is involved with Chiropractic care/management for my condition?
Your Chiropractor will tailor a care plan with your specific requirements in mind. This may involve the use of instrument adjustive methods to get your joints moving using Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique, or manual adjustive techniques done by hand to free up any joint restriction of movement discovered during your physical exam. Tight muscles will also be managed with soft tissue techniques such as trigger point therapy, effleurage, myofascial release, Post Isometric Relaxation (PIR) and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) stretches etc. If there is a more extensive muscular involvement that cannot be dealt with in the time allowed, a recommendation to see one of our experienced remedial massage therapists may be recommended or combined with your care plan.
What is involved with Remedial Massage Therapy for my condition?
Remedial massage is the systematic assessment and treatment of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues of the body to assist in rehabilitation, pain and injury management. It’s performed to create favourable conditions for the body to return to normal health after injury and is defined by the premise that the treatment can reasonably reverse certain physical effects a patient may be presenting. If a patient has suffered a moderate injury resulting in structural pain and/or loss of function, then remediation is required to reduce or eliminate pain and restore that function. Remedial massage is designed to balance muscle/soft tissue length, tension, tone which will in turn promote the return to normal joint/capsular/bone position; increase the flow of blood and lymph, particularly in the injured areas, thus removing blockages, damaged cells, scar tissue and adhesions resulting from injury.
What is the difference between Remedial Massage Therapy and Relaxation Massage Therapy?
A relaxation massage helps de-stress and loosen up your body and is great for those who have had a hard working week or feel like treating themselves to some TLC. The treatment consists of flowing strokes, kneading and gentle manipulations of the muscles performed at your chosen pressure. It is a pain free way to relax both your muscles and your mind.
If you have particular muscle tension or chronic pain, a remedial massage may be for you. Your remedial massage therapist will assess where you need treatment and what may be causing your pain. They’ll perform some tests to see exactly which muscles are giving you trouble and will tailor a treatment plan to suit. The treatment itself may involve deep tissue work for short periods of time, and the results are definitely worth it.
Speak with you therapist when you arrive at your appointment to decide which option may suit you best.
How long will it take for me to get better and how much will it cost?
This is a very important consideration for all of us. When you come in for your first appointment your condition will be assessed and a better determination as to number of visits to our office and recovery time can be made.
Do you have health fund claiming (HICAPS) onsite?
Yes. Health fund claiming is available for all services. A gap payment may be required depending on your level of cover. Please check with your provider prior to your appointment to see if you are covered for your intended service.
